My Grammar

Transport

Junior Grammar shares a campus with the heritage-listed Ipswich Girls’ Grammar School (IGGS), in the heart of Ipswich overlooking Bremer River. We are on the corner of Queen Victoria Parade and Chermside Road, East Ipswich. Our main entrance and Visitor Car Park is accessible from Torch Street.

Drop Off and Pick Up Zone

Ring Road is our dedicated, fully supervised, drive-in, drop off and pick up zone for Junior Grammar students and is accessible from Torch Street. To keep traffic flowing, we ask parents to keep their engines running while students disembark or get into their car. To ensure all our students stay safe, please do not park or leave your car. Limited visitor parking is available via the Torch Street entrance.

Dedicated Bus Service

We provide a private bus charter service for our students in Prep to Year 6 that we share with Ipswich Girls’ Grammar School and our brother school, Ipswich Grammar School.

Each year, our bus routes are revised in consideration of where our students live and how many stops/pick-up points can be accommodated along a route. For ease, the cost of bus transport is charged to your Junior Grammar account.

Buses deliver students in time for the 8.15am start of the school day and depart from the School shortly after 3pm. Late buses, departing from 4.45pm, are available Monday to Thursdays for students who participate in activities after school.

All students wishing to use this shared charter bus service need to complete a Bus Service Application Form.

Parent Information

Young Travellers – Prep to Year 4

Prep students are not allowed to travel on the service in the first Semester of school. We recommend that Prep students contact Junior School regarding bus travel and when it is appropriate to submit an application.

Students up to Year 4 will not be able to disembark from a service without a parent/guardian present. Students in Year 5 and Year 6 are strongly encouraged to have a parent/guardian present before disembarking, but this is not mandatory.

Safe Travel

To ensure student safety and wellbeing, when travelling on the service students are expected to:

  • Abide by the Schools Code of Conduct;
  • Obey driver’s instructions;
  • Sit properly on a seat;
  • Wear the seatbelt at all times;
  • Place bags on the floor;
  • Have their Student Card ready;
  • The Schools reserve the right to suspend or terminate use of the bus service for passengers who do not abide by the Schools’ expectations.

Bus Pass

It is a mandatory requirement for students to use their Bus Card to tap on and tap off when using the service. Lost or damaged cards are to be reported to Student Services for a replacement to be issued.

Monitor Student Travel and Services

The Schools have implemented a new software application for tracking and monitoring student travel. Information on how to download the App, set up Login information and all you need to know about the new software can be found by following this link.

*Note: Previously issued Bus Passes will be invalid on the new service. Students are to use the new Bus Card provided by the respective School.
